- Millie woke up at 5:00 to eat. Chris got up to grade tests and caught the first bus to school.
- Thankfully, I was able to go back to sleep. This sweet face didn't greet me again until 9:00! A great start to my lazy day.
- We traveled 1,717 miles on our roadtrip. Poor Nelly is getting too old for that kind of wear and tear, but it is what it is. We hit 100,00 miles on the trip. We plan to run her into the ground. We're not at terminal velocity, but the ground is certainly coming faster and faster.
- New buy books in at the library. I've had them on hold and have been waiting. I'm the first one to check out both of them!
- The trees on 9th Street Hill by the country club are thinking fall is coming. Mixed feelings about that (despite it being mid-October).
- The heap of clothes, blankets, wipes, etc that need put away from our trip. And I didn't do anything with them. Strangely, that feels like an accomplishment.
- The most mutant marigolds known to man. A few weeks ago a neighbor lady complimented my "bushes." They're out of control.
- Be-ribboned and waiting for lunch. Carrots, avocado and rice cereal- yum.
- My afternoon snack: a wedding favor cookie from Eric and Emma's wedding.
- Millie and I went on a walk a little after 4:00. There was a firetruck at the neighbor's next door. An ambulance and two cop cars showed up as we walked past. When we got back there were six cop cars and the house was taped off. Then they taped off our yard and blocked our road, too. Yikes!
- Neighbor Bill is dead. So unsettling. No more shirtless summer days in his Jazzy, no more keeping watch of the neighborhood, no more keeping tabs on our comings and goings.
- Chris got home after 9:00. His crossing the police tape apparently riled up some people. We snooped out our bedroom window on the scene, the cops and conversations. It made me feel icky and sneaky and weird. But it wasn't like we were going to sleep during the thick of it. There is still a cop car out front, his house is still taped off and one officer let out a loud strain of profanities at 5:00 this morning. The whole thing is bizarre.

12of12 October: More Than I Could Imagine
We got in Tuesday night and I declared Wednesday my "do nothing day" before I have to do a whole bunch to get ready to leave again on Saturday. I wondered what I could capture in my day to fill up the grid. Unfortunately, there was all too much going on around here.

Oh. my. goodness.
Don't forget to tell us the end to this story. Promise you won't forget.
CRAZINESS! You definitely need to keep us posted on what happened to Bill! Freaky. I would totally eavesdrop if I were you. :)
Please don't tell Alisha that 100,000 miles is "too old". Our car had 230,000 miles on it when we got rid of it. :(
