Chris's conference was Thursday-Saturday. We got in late Wednesday night (it was late even before adjusting for a three hour time difference). Thursday morning Millie was up bright and early, so we decided to take advantage of it and head out for a little while. We explored the Gaslamp District, had a picnic, then sent Chris to the conference and Millie and I hung out in the hotel room, napping, reading and trying to get adjusted to a new little routine. Then we spent some time hanging out on the grass near the pool, soaking in the sunshine.
Chris's old boss, Nancy, was also at the conference, and plans were made a month ago to meet up for dinner on Thursday so she could meet Millie. But when I realized a few weeks ago it was baseball season and the Padres would be at home, playing our Nationals, the plans were tweaked. And, for once in their existence, the Nats were actually doing really well! Convenient that Nancy is from the DC-area and roots for the local team. When I started looking into tickets I came upon the all-you-can-eat seats and suggested them to Chris. Check one off his bucket list! He readily jumped on that idea and Nancy was nice enough to play along.
It was waaaay past a little girl's bedtime by the time we convinced ourselves to leave (the game was scoreless at this point) and sadly, the Nats ended up losing. But we had a great time and enjoyed our fill of hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn and soda. (After last summer's game at Wrigley field, I think it's time we get Millie some Nats paraphernalia because the girl has no choice but to be a fan.)
Friday morning we were able to go to the San Diego Temple and do a session. Our friends from Lafayette moved to San Diego last year and live just down the street from the temple. Rachel graciously agreed to watch Millie and allowed for one of my favorite parts of the trip.
It was so nice to do a session together!
Chris went to the conference that afternoon, but when he got back we went off on another adventure. This time to Coronado Island and in search of the beach.
We found it, but it was cool and windy. I was amazed at all the parents bundled up in jackets and pants while their kids were in swimming suits. Brrr!Yeah, Millie's jacket got left in the car, so we weren't too much better.
The hotel is gorgeous and pretty amazing. As we walked along the little cottages at Beach Village at the Del, we couldn't help but wonder how people ever get enough money to stay there. They were pretty plush and it was fun imagining what it would be like.

I have missed your posts! I'm glad you had such a great time in San Diego.
I still can't believe how many connections we have. Yes, Mitch did give his seminary teacher a run for his money that year. It was quite funny from my safe side of the building :0) Mitch is great and I love and admire him.
Glad Clinton is still alive and well.
So are you back in Indiana yet?
