Temperature

Much of my life is determined by temperature. Last week, the heat index (temperature + humidity) reached about 105. Today's high is supposed to be 69° and we aren't supposed to break 80° at all this week.

The new-found cooler temps have brought cookie baking, German pancakes for breakfast, bread rising on the counter and plans for sweet potato oven fries.

Last week we ate salads, grilled fish, pasta salad and evening picnics. Not so this week!

I thought of going for walks, or maybe going running (say it isn't so!) last week, but couldn't be convinced that sweating (by stepping outside) would be too much fun. We ran our A/C twenty-four hours a day. This week, we're living with open windows and open doors, and we might even go on a couple strolls around the neighborhood. Yesterday afternoon we laid out on the lawn, watching Millie take in the birds, trees, clouds and yapping neighbor dog.

Millie wore onesies and little summer dresses last week. This week, she'll get pants and perhaps a cardigan.

I'm not one to wish summer away and long for sweaters and boots, but I can dig being able to live life out of doors, bake and enjoy the breeze.

This made me laugh... temperatures in the 80's are the best. This week we are having a heat wave in Seattle and we will be in the 80's. We are so excited
